We got to know this book for my husband’s birthday, it was a present of our close friend Sergio Pagano, in exclusive before its launching, a big honor for us!

 Sergio is an italian Independent Professional Photographer and resides in Rio de Janeiro since 1986. He worked on several campaigns with agencies, collaborated with a number of principal architecture magazines and some record companies, doing album covers. He joined the gastronomic photography, and today he is recognized as one of the most important photographers in Brazil and has over 30 books published.

Sergio’s latest book “Taste of Brazil “was launched to the public last week at Bookshop Travessa in Ipanema. The launch was a completely success. A lot of people were doing the line for an autograph from the author and the photographer themselves and I was one of them.

This etno-gastronomic book, is a result of a journalistic work of the author Alice Granato and Pagano’s photos. Taste of Brazil a compilation of reports on the lush and fascinating Brazilian territory represented by perfumed, colorful and tasty dishes.

An extensive travel around the more representative cities and regions of the country, discovering genuine products, cultural influences, people, markets and customs from a contemporary point of view.

The book has seven chapters where each region is represented by its most traditional recipes with the collaboration of important chefs from the area .The first chapter entitled “Flavors of the North” has a taste of river fish, local farms’ products, and exotic fruits The 2nd chapter “Sun Coast” has a flavor of exotic fish and typical desserts. The 3rd chapter “Afrobahianos” has a flavor of African influence, beliefs, religions, music and local spices.

The 4th chapter “historical cities” has a taste of wood-fired oven, peppers and cachaças. The 5th chapter “Urbans of Rio de Janeiro and San Pablo” has a flavor of ethnic fusion. Urban Rio de Janeiro was influenced by Portuguese culture is a bohemian city of samba and Bossa Nova. And urban San Pablo by avant-garde movements.

The 6th chapter “Pantanal Mato-Grossense” has a taste of wood, steaks and typical cheese Minas. The 7th chapter ” de la Sierra Gaucha y del Litoral Catarinense ” has a flavor of vineyards and tasty tender meat with a lot of European influence.

I read it and I have to say that the book is a worth to have it, the chapters are rich of interesting stories, the recipes are delicious and the pictures are so real that you really feel the tastes so you just have to let yourself go through.

El sabor del Brasil

Tuvimos conocimiento de este libro en el cumpleaños de mi marido, fue un regalo de nuestro gran amigo Sergio Pagano, en exclusiva antes de su lanzamiento, un gran honor para nosotros.

Sergio es un fotógrafo profesional independiente, nació en Milán y vive en Rio de Janeiro desde 1986. Trabajo en varias campañas publicitárias, colaboró con las principales revistas de arquitectura y con algunas casas discográficas, haciendo fotos de carátulas de discos. Luego ingresó en la fotografía gastronómica y hoy cuenta con mas de 30 libros publicados .

Sabor de Brasil es un libro etno-gastronómico fruto del trabajo periodístico de la autora Alice Granato y Sergio Pagano. El libro es una compilación de reportajes sobre el exuberante y fascinante territorio brasileño representado por platos perfumados, coloridos y sabrosos. Un extenso recorrido por las ciudades y regiones más representativas del país, descubriendo productos genuinos y autóctonos, influencias culturales, personajes, mercados y costumbres.

El primer capitulo esta entitulado” Sabores del norte” sabe a  pescados de rió y de productos de la tierra. El 2do capitulo “ Costa del sol” sabe a pescados exóticos y postres delicados. El 3er capitulo “Afrobahianos” tiene un aroma a influencia africana,  creencias, religiones, música y buena culinaria.

EL 4to capitulo “Ciudades históricas” tiene sabor de horno de leña de pimientas y cachaças. El  5to capitulo “ urbanos Rió de Janeriro y San Pablo” tiene aroma de fusión de etnias. En Rio por los portugueses ciudad bohemia de samba y Bossa Nova. Y San Pablo por movimientos de vanguardia. El 6to capitulo “Pantanal mato-grossense” tiene sabor de churrasco, de madera,  y de queso minas. El último capitulo “ de la Sierra Gaucha y del Litoral Catarinense” tiene sabor de viñedos, de carnes sabrosas y tiernas con mucha influencia europea.

Lo he leído y tengo que decir que es unl libro que vale la es pena tener, los capítulos son ricos de historias interesantes, las recetas son deliciosas y las imágenes son tan reales que se sienten los sabores es sólo dejarse llevar.

  1. Que gran articulo, Ana el libro se encuentra en el idioma español? Estoy muy interesada en conseguirlo, en donde ? me puedes dar mas informacion sobre los otros libros del Señor Pagano? Que interesante y sobre todo cubre todos los aspectos de la culinaria.
