I remember many years ago when I first saw the movie “La dolce vita” “Sweet Life” (to translate the title literally) about the exploits of a tabloid reporter (Marcello Mastroianni) among the jet set of modern Rome.
I have some vague memories of delirious scenes, confuse dialogues, contrasting characters and of course the mythical and unforgettable scene with Anita Ekber and Marcello Mastroianni in the Trevi Fountain (my favorite monument in Rome).
A year ago, my uncle Diego offer me the DVD because I had mention before that I wanted to review it from a more mature perspective and therefore have a better understanding of the plot.
And then, I saw it again and I found it very original for that period. Indeed, it is a difficult film to follow therefore is worth to watch it by fragments in order to grasp the whole. Whether you have seen it or not take this in to account to be able to capture the elements that wrap up the film. For instance, the flashbacks between past and future, the sacred and the profane, the moral and the transgression, blend together with a perfect balance of irony and humor.
Only a master could create a cult like “La Dolce Vita” and that master is called Federico Fellini (1920-1993) and for my pleasure in Rio de Janeiro at the Instituto Moreira Salles from 11 March to 17 June the exhibition Tutto Fellini is taking place. Moreira Salles Institute is a special place that few people know, a mansion in Gavea in the middle of tall trees and lots of vegetation.
I went to see it and the exhibition reveals the fascinating universe of the Italian filmmaker. A trip through his visions, dreams, memories, jokes, tastes, obsessions and relations. All documented by backstage pictures, drawings made by the director himself, magazines, posters, interviews and excerpts of films.
Fellini an artist who inspire us…. What your Dolce Vita would be?

Hace muchos años vi por primera vez la película “La dolce vita” “La dulce vida” (traduccion literaria del titulo) sobre las hazañas de un periodista sensacionalista (Marcello Mastroianni) entre la jet set de la Roma moderna.
Me acuerdo de algunas escenas delirantes, diálogos confusos, personajes contrastantes y claro la mítica e inolvidable escena de Marcello Mastroiani con Anita Ekber en la Fontana de Trevi (mi monumento preferido en Roma).
Hace un ano mi tío Diego me regaló el DVD de “La dolce Vita” yo le había comentado que quería verla de nuevo con una perspectiva más madura para entender mejor la trama.
La vi de nuevo y me pareció muy original sobretodo para la época. De hecho, es una película difícil de seguir porque es larga y lenta, lo mejor seria verla en fragmentos para captar todo sino seria un poco pesada.
Ya sea que la hayas visto o no es bueno tener en cuenta esto para poder capturar los elementos que envuelven a la película. Como por ejemplo los contrastes entre el pasado y el futuro, lo sagrado y lo profano, lo moral y lo inmoral, mezclados juntos con un equilibrio perfecto de ironía y de humor.
Solo un maestro podría crear un culto cinematográfico como La dolce Vita y ese maestro se llama Federico Fellini (1920-1993). En Rio de Janeiro se encuentra en cartelera la exposición Tutto Fellini en el Instituto Moreira Salles del 11 Marzo al 17 Junio. El Instituto Moreira Salles un lugar que poca gente conoce, una mansion que queda en la zona Gavea entre arboles altos y una vegetacion preciosa.
Visite la exposición y me pareció muy interesante, es un viaje dentro del universo del realizador de películas italiano a través de sus visiones, sueños, recuerdos, bromas, gustos, obsesiones y relaciones. Todo documentado por fotos de bastidores, dibujos, caricaturas hechas por el, revistas, posters, entrevistas y cortes de sus películas más representativas.

Hi Ana Patricia, I always like Fellini’s style, recently I had the opportunity to participate to an exposition in Rio de Janeiro organized the the local Italian consulate, and it was very interesting . Fellini was one of the most important part of the italian style and way of living . All his films represent a way of Italian life during a very particular time especially in Roma.

Hace poco vi una pelicula argentina con una actriz llamada Tita Zorrilla que interpretaba un personaje de una señora de edad que vivia en Madrid y estaba a punto de morir, pero su sueño era ser Anita Ekber y meterse en la Fontana de Trevi. Ese sueño se lo realizò un amor otoñal que hacìa que no sabia que ella se hiba a morir, pero le cumpliò ese sueño. Es una hermosa pelicula, pero no recuerdo su nombre.

El nombre de la actriz argentina es China Zorrilla y la pelicula se llama “Elsa y Fred” Es una historia de amor que al final descubren que nunca es tarde para amar y soñar. Elsa (China) es una mujer de 82 años de los cuales 60 viviò soñando un momento que ya habia sido soñado por Fellini: la escena de la Dolce Vita en la Fontana de Trevi pero sin Anita Ekberg sino ella, sin Marcello Mastrioami sino con ese amor que tardò tanto en llegar.

que buen dato voy a conseguir la pelicula, como comente en el post la escena de la fontana de trevi es inolvidable y la verdad es q cada vez que voy a visitar ese hermoso monumento me dan ganas de revivir ese episodio en persona! Gracias por compartir!
